FAQs
Our proteins, organs, produce and superfoods are sourced to provide the best quality raw pet food for your dog. We responsibly source all of our proteins from USDA wholesalers (except rabbit and green tripe). These human grade wholesalers stock your local grocery stores and favorite restaurants. Our fruits and veggies are purchased weekly at our local HEB and chopped up fresh. **All ingredients and supplements are individually measured and weighed for their consistent nutrient values, we do not use feed-grade synthetic vitamin packs. The sourcing and bioavailability of all of our ingredients is and has always been very important.Â

All of Go Raw Pet Food canine recipes are complete, exceeding the nutritional requirements set by AAFCO. They are professionally formulated and routinely lab tested for their consistency. The bone content we use is a bone meal supplement of calcium carbonate and magnesium. The proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals are all food based and no further supplementation is necessary.
Our recipes are proven to be tasty, but they are very different from the kibble they may be accustomed to. Here's our advice for the picky pup -
*Add a topper of canned sardines, an egg, or a warm low-sodium broth.
*Change the temperature of the cold raw by lightly heating it up in a skillet to release the aromas to entice your pup. Do this less and less so you can eventually feed it cold.
*Feed with confidence because if you're unsure about the new bowl, they will too. Serve the raw and walk away. If they don't eat it in 15 minutes, put it in the fridge for their next mealtime.
And importantly, your pup trusts you. Keep trying because you know what's best.
Though we're not organic, our poultry, beef, pork and lamb are humanely raised and without antibiotics or hormones. Our local rabbits are hand raised and our beef green tripe is grass fed. An organic product would demand a higher price point for our customers, and Go Raw Pet Food's goal from the beginning was to create an affordable quality raw dog food.Â
We recommend choosing a protein that your dog is already familiar with in his/her current bowl. Switch proteins as you'd like after transitioning and feeding Go Raw Pet Food for at least a few weeks. Remember variety within your dog's diet is very beneficial for their long term health and vitality. Order a 12lb Newbie Box for a variety to try :)
Our grass fed beef green tripe is a unique nutritional hero, it's the stomach lining of a cow. Really. Green tripe is full of powerful live enzymes and probiotics, essential for excellent gut health, efficient digestion and immune function. Green tripe, a rare superfood for raw companies, is included in every dual protein raw pet food recipe we make.
Mechanically Separated Meat is produced by machines that squeeze cacasses and frames under extreme pressure to remove any leftover meat and sinew to use as byproducts in pet food. Many fresh pet food companies use this within their recipes because it's cheap. How can you tell? Recipes with Mechanically Separated Meat have an ultra-fine mushy texture, are pale in color, and often have a high calcium content that creates chalky stools for your dogs. EWW. Mechanically Separated Meat is never used in any of Go Raw Pet Food's formulas.Â
What a great question. Absolutely puppies can be fed Go Raw Pet Food. From chihuahuas to german shepherds to cane corsos, we've fed them all. Studies now show that feeding puppies raw in their first year of life statistically benefits their health; less skin allergies, less digestive upset, less inflammatory diseases, less obesity, and greater immune function. Feeding raw is a big deal. Start them off right! See What is Raw? for more details.
High Pressure Processing is a preservation method that guarantees shelf life. HPP denatures the proteins thus killing bacteria and pathogens, even the beneficial bacteria that is essential for gut health and immune strength. Go Raw Pet Food does not use High Pressure Processing because we only use USDA proteins, approved for human consumption. Our quality ingredients are ground up, measured, mixed, bagged and frozen for your dog without adding any chemicals or preservatives. Go Raw Pet Food makes the best raw dog food every week with faithful strong hands, and no fancy equipment is necessary. Â
It's the Association of American Feed Control Officials, an independent organization that guides the state, federal, and international feed regulators with ingredient definitions, label standards and laboratory standards for the United States. AAFCO has developed nutrient profiles to establish minimum and some maximum nutrient values for dog and cat food. Go Raw Pet Food adheres to the nutritional guidelines that AAFCO has set in place for complete and balanced nutrition. Â
